LTE Cat 1bis is the LTE-variant developed for the Internet of Things (IoT) and Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communications. It was introduced in 3GPP Release 13 in 2016. LTE Cat 1bis delivers the same throughput as LTE Cat 1 with a single antenna, reducing costs for OEMs and IoT solution providers.
